Natural plant care for happy houseplants all year round: seaweed plant food, neem oil leaf shine, a lavender and herb greenfly repellent, pruning snips, pretty watering cans and a shelf of houseplant books. These are the things we use ourselves, picked to look good on a windowsill as well as work well. Gift cards are available to spend online or in our Falmouth shop.
Looking after plants is mostly about small, regular habits, and having the right things to hand makes them easier to keep up. This collection is our edit of natural, attractive plant care products, mostly from Norfolk Natural Living, plus the books we reach for when a plant starts to look unhappy.
A simple routine: Feed with Norfolk Natural Living’s seaweed plant food. Wipe dusty leaves with the neem oil leaf shine to keep them looking glossy. Keep pests at bay with the lavender and herb greenfly repellent. Trim leggy growth and dead leaves with a pair of pruning snips. Water with an indoor plant watering can in dark green, dolomite white or frosty green, which is small and neat enough to live on a shelf. Whatever the season, the same few things cover most of what a houseplant needs from you.
For when you need advice: Sarah Gerrard-Jones’s The Plant Rescuer and William Davidson’s Dr. Houseplant are for plants that are struggling, and Felicity Hart’s The Little Book for Plant Parents is a friendly starting point for beginners. Fran Bailey’s The Healing Power of Plants looks at what plants can do for you, rather than the other way round.
For gifts: Plant care makes an easy, thoughtful present for a friend who loves their plants, a new plant parent or a housewarming. A watering can with a seaweed plant food or a book tucked beside it is a gift that’s useful as well as pretty, and most of the collection costs less than £20.
