Our bestselling gifts: a hand-picked list of the most giftable pieces in our Falmouth shop, based on the things we help customers choose every day for the people they love. Handmade mugs, mohair socks, soaps and candles, linen tea towels, wooden kitchen tools, olive oil, cookbooks and hot water bottle covers, all from small independent makers, and an easy place to start if you’re not sure what to buy this Christmas. Gift cards are available to spend online or in our Falmouth shop.
If you’ve ever stood in our shop wondering what to buy someone, this is the list we’d point you to. These are the pieces people come back for, and the ones we find ourselves recommending most: things that are useful, look good and are easy to wrap.
Mugs: Handmade mugs are the gift we’re asked about most, and we have them from Liz Vidal in blue, caramel and earth, Pip Hartle in black and indigo blue, Leach Pottery in ash green, Wildwood Ceramic Studio in black boulders and black loops, Brickett Davda in carbon grey, and Annabel Roberts in vine.
Socks: Oaken’s mohair socks come in colours like rust, forest, walnut, verdigris, cobalt, marigold and rhubarb. Le Bon Shoppe’s boyfriend socks in vintage pink, moss green, butter yellow, ice grey and blue, and powder blue are an easy small gift.
Candles, soap and scent: La Luna’s botanical jar candles, Moorlands’ beeswax candles, Harvest’s soaps and black cardamom candle, WS + Co’s herbal soaps and Sacred Elephant’s incense are good gifts for hosts, teachers and friends. Austin Austin’s palmarosa and vetiver organic hand cream is a favourite small present.
For the kitchen: Ambrose Vevers’ spatulas and oak tongs, Slow Made Goods’ spalted wood scoop, the porridge spurtle from Creamore Mill, Linen Tales’ linen tea towels, Honest Toil’s cold pressed olive oil, Wildwood’s ceramic oil pourer and Leach Pottery’s mixing and prepping bowl sets suit anyone who cooks, along with cookbooks such as Japanese Comfort Food.
Cosy and thoughtful: Owen Barry’s natural sheepskin hot water bottle cover, Botanique Workshop’s linen lavender therapy pillow, Pip Hartle’s candle holders and an indoor plant watering can are gifts that last past Christmas.
Can’t decide? A gift card can be spent online or in the shop. Add gift wrapping and a card with a note at checkout, and we’ll write it for you and pop it in with your gift.
