Every piece in this collection is wheel thrown stoneware by potter Tim Lake, working from his studio in Cilycwm, Carmarthenshire, Wales. Tim throws and turns each pot on a slow, motor-free kick wheel — a low-impact, traditional pottery technique that takes patience and well-timed leg work over speed. Once glazed, the stoneware is fired in a part gas, part wood-fired kiln, with the live flame giving each piece its own reduction-fired speckle and variation in colour, so no two pots ever come out quite the same.
Tim's faceted vases and plant pots — cut by hand after throwing to create their distinctive angled edges — come in a warm rust glaze and a cooler dolomite grey, both with a generously creamy, organic texture that suits dried or fresh stems equally well. Alongside the vases and pots sit faceted cups and beakers and a striped cup, sized for everyday coffee, tea or water, and just as at home holding toothbrushes or paintbrushes on a bathroom shelf.
Tim has long drawn on the landscape around him in his work, collecting river silts, clays and sands from the coastline and countryside near his studio — a practice that ties each piece back to the place it was made. The result is stoneware with real depth and character: earthy, organic and built for daily use, whether as a considered wedding gift, a housewarming present, or a treat for your own kitchen or windowsill.
