Brickett Davda is the studio of ceramicist Jo Davda and her small team, making iconic moulded ceramics in Brighton since the early 1990s. Unlike wheel thrown pottery, each piece is pressed by hand into a plaster cast mould, then finished and brush-painted by hand — a process that's barely changed in over thirty years, and one that gives every mug, bowl and plate its distinctive smooth form and subtle handmade irregularities.
These are high-end functional ceramics, design and colour led rather than purely rustic - leaf green, carbon grey, brick pink, blossom pink, navy blue, aloe green and mustard yellow, all in glossy stoneware glazes that were clearly chosen to sit together. Because the collection is designed around a shared palette, it's built for collection building: mugs, bowls and serveware mix and match across colours, so you can start with a single piece and build up a personal set over time, or combine two or three shades for a layered, considered table setting.
That colour-led, collectible quality also makes Brickett Davda one of our go-to picks for wedding gifts — a full breakfast set in complementary tones, or a mixed run of mugs and bowls, gives a couple a genuinely cohesive, design-conscious start to their kitchen, with room to add pieces as their own collection grows.
