Handmade ceramic kitchenware for people who cook, and for people who collect. This is where the pieces that don’t fit neatly into bowls or mugs live: hand-painted utensil pots, pouring jugs, pestle and mortars, mixing and prepping bowls. All of it is made by independent UK studios. Gift cards are available to spend online or in our Falmouth shop.
The pieces here are useful first and beautiful second, which is what makes them good gifts all year round. They suit a housewarming or wedding present, a birthday gift for a keen cook, a Christmas present for someone with a well-stocked kitchen, or an addition to your own collection of handmade ceramics. Everything is made in small batches, so you can expect to find slight differences between pieces.
For the cook’s worktop: A ceramic utensil pot is one of the easiest ways to bring handmade pottery into a working kitchen. Annabel Roberts’s hand-painted stripes and spots utensil pot is a good one to start with, and makes a gift that gets seen every day. Leach Pottery’s prepping bowl set, mixing bowl set and nesting bowls are made for everyday cooking, and the pestle and mortar is a gift for anyone who likes to grind their own spices.
For pouring and serving: Liz Vidal’s dipped glaze jug and Leach Pottery’s Standard Ware jugs in dolomite white and ash green are handy for milk, sauces, dressings and gravy, and look just as good on the table as in the kitchen.
For collectors: Ceramic collectors often build up a set over time, one piece at a time. The Leach Pottery pieces work well together across the collection, and several makers here, including Pip Hartle, Wildwood Ceramic Studio and Sarah Quick, release small batches that come and go, so it’s worth checking back.
